First Nations' Futures Program

First Nations' Futures Program

Using collaborative tools on an internal website, the First Nations' Futures Program wanted to enable and encourage communication among participants in Alaska, Hawaii and New Zealand. The Futures Program also wanted to use a public website to publicize the fellowship program to participating communities, partners, donors and the general public.

To meet these goals, Wired Moon selected the Liferay Portal platform to facilitate a sense of community, relying on the software's superior out-of-the-box functionality, ease of use and low cost of ownership. Liferay Portal offers a document library, image gallery and built-in content management system to weave a common space for sharing information.

Wired Moon enhanced this portal with a streaming video portlet that displays key videos via internal and external portions of the site. Wired Moon also integrated 123FlashChat into the portal to provide a highly interactive chat experience for users.

Wired Moon's services included:

  • Requirements gathering & technical research
  • Information architecture design
  • Visual design
  • Portal configuration & enhancement
