First Nations' Futures Program

A key project objective was to provide collaborative tools that would enable and encourage communication among the program's participants in Alaska, Hawaii and New Zealand via an internal website.

The portal also needed to fulfill a marketing role and publicize the fellowship program to participating communities, partners, donors and the general public through a public website.

Wired Moon was tasked with selecting an appropriate tool to serve the unique needs of the fellowship program. Liferay Portal was selected for its superior out-of-the-box functionality, ease of use and low cost of ownership. The main benefit of Liferay Portal for this client is its ability to facilitate a sense of community. The organization depended heavily on the Document Library, Image Gallery and built-in content management system to provide a common space for sharing information.

Wired Moon enhanced the portal with a streaming video portlet for displaying key videos within internal and external portions of the site. Wired Moon also integrated 123FlashChat into the portal to provide a more interactive and integrated chat experience for users.
